Our Surgical Services

When your pet needs surgery, they may be experiencing varied levels of distress. We are experienced in handling animals in these delicate situations and will do everything we can to make them feel as comfortable as possible. Our veterinary surgeon offers a wide variety of skilled surgical services, including:

Spaying & NeuteringSpaying and neutering are surgical procedures performed on pets to prevent reproduction. Spaying involves removing a female animal's ovaries and often the uterus, while neutering refers to removing a male animal's testicles.

Foreign Body RemovalThis is a surgical procedure performed to extract objects or substances that have been ingested and become lodged within the dog's digestive tract.  This surgery is essential to prevent complications such as blockages or damage to internal organs and can save the pet from serious health risks. These foreign bodies can include items like toys, peach pits and corn cobs, bones and fabric that are unable to pass through the gastrointestinal system.

Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome (BAS): BAS is a specialized procedure designed to address respiratory issues in dogs with brachycephalic (short-nosed) breeds, such as Bulldogs, Pugs, and French Bulldogs. This surgery aims to alleviate the breathing difficulties often associated with these breeds by removing excess tissue, widening the airway, and improving overall airflow. While it can significantly enhance the quality of life for affected dogs, it's essential to consult with a veterinarian experienced in brachycephalic surgeries to determine the most appropriate approach and assess potential risks.

TPLO Surgery: TPLO surgery is a commonly employed surgical method that repairs your pet's ACL, a vital ligament in their knees. When your pet experiences knee trauma that causes the AC ligament to tear or rupture, they usually need corrective surgery to repair it. ACL tears and ruptures are also very painful to animals, and if they are left untreated, they can result in severe cases of osteoarthritis. TPLO surgeries generally have low reinjury rates, and pets often recover very well from the procedure.

TPLO is the surgical ACL repair method our practice implements, and we've treated many dogs over the years with a high degree of success. The TPLO surgery is designed to get your dog back to an active lifestyle, and many pets get back to running and jumping not long after recovery. Our treatments will minimize the pain that ACL injuries cause your pet and get them back to their playful selves.

Mass Removal/Lumpectomy: This is the process of surgically removing abnormal growths or tumors. This procedure is performed to diagnose and treat potential malignancies or alleviate discomfort and improve the pet's quality of life.

Orthopedic Surgeries:  Orthopedic surgery for animals involves specialized procedures to treat musculoskeletal conditions and injuries, helping pets regain mobility, alleviate pain, and improve their overall quality of life. Some of our orthopedic procedures include fracture repairs, TPLO for ruptured cruciate ligaments, and FHOs.

Splenectomies: A procedure involving removal of the spleen. Most often, splenectomies are required when tumors form on the spleen, but removal may also be required if your pet has suffered trauma that has left the spleen damaged or ruptured.

Amputations: An amputation removes a damaged or otherwise compromised limb. Amputations can be performed for several reasons, including traumatic injury, congenital deformity, or neoplasia.  Luckily, in our experience, dogs and cats can live fulfilling, healthy lives after amputation corrects the underlying issue.

Cystotomy: This is the process of surgically removing bladder stones. During the surgery, an incision is made in the abdominal wall, allowing access to the bladder. The veterinarian can then remove the problematic contents and repair any bladder damage, ultimately improving the patient's urinary health and relieving discomfort.
